Work Experience - Fish Griwkowsky

For my first week of Work Experience last fall, I shadowed Fish Griwkowsky.  Although his main focus isn't photography, I learned a great deal from the man.  He was humble about his skill level of photography, but there are a lot of things that school cannot teach you, things that only experience can, and Fish has had his fair share of experience.  Griwkowsky primarily writes and cartoons for SEE Weekly among other magazines and papers and has been published in more than handful of others.  His photography covers everything from nature to events to portraits.

Fish and Mrs. Griwkowsky

During the week we shot a few portraits of bands (including a 3D attempt of the Whitsundays) and even a portrait of his mother (who was in town for Fish's award of 40 under 40).  Mostly we just talked about the state of the photography industry and how the both of us fit in it.
Clearly I am not a writer and I apologize for the stumbling sentences.  I had a fun week and would like to thank Fish for having me and even arranging photo shoots for us.

Arizona Christmas Break

I spent my first Christmas out of Canada this past year in Arizona with my family.  This was my third time at the White Tank Mountains.  These are three of my favorites from the trip. There will be more to come though.

NAIT Thesis

During my third semester at NAIT I had to shoot a photographic thesis, more of a collection of photos than a thesis but that is what the assignment was called.  I focused on abandoned homes, old broken down buildings.  They offer wonderful textures and I find it interesting how something so decrepit  could have once been a warm place full of memories for someone.
